Work in Progress

The Work in Progress sessions give you the chance to discover the creative stages of works currently in production.

Dive into the creative process of new animation projects and the world of those who shape it.

Where are they now?

These projects have experienced a remarkable journey since their selection at the Annecy Work in Progress. Let's see what happened to them since their appearance at the Festival.

This film won the 2021 Annecy Festival Cristal for a Feature Film and was nominated in three Oscar categories: Best Animated Feature, Best Documentary and Best International Feature Film.

Emperor by Marion Burger and Ilan J. Cohen, 2023
This interactive narrative experience in virtual reality won the Venice Immersive Achievement Prize in the Official Competition at the 2023 Venice Film Festival.

Flow by Gints Zilbalodis, 2023
Flow won the Jury Award, Audience Award, Best Original Music Award for a Feature Film and the Gan Foundation Award for Distribution at Annecy 2024, before going on to win the César, Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

How do you apply?

The Work in Progress sessions are not subject to a call for projects. We invite you to send an application from October onwards to wip@citia.org with a synopsis, some graphic elements (stills, animatics, animated sequences), a concept brief, a production brief, a production schedule, and the filmmaker's CV.
